In lamhon ke daaman mein, for most parts, is serenely beautiful and even those intermittent high points in chorus harmonize delectably with the main melody. The most interesting part is the blend of very Indian pieces amidst grand Mughal splendor, perhaps fittingly mirroring the relative importance of the film’s two protagonists. Its now 4th Feb 2009 and 10 days shy of a year to my last post here, and I still have this song on my iPod as the highest listened song month in month out.Azeem-o-shaan has Rahman playing with orchestral opulence truly fit for an emperor, in a fragmented, rhythm-dominated context. Which I must admit to being well annoyed with.

The only songs they cut in the movie were Jashne-Bahaaraa & Maan Mohanaa and rather than removing they just stuck them in the movie in pieces. I must admit that the depth of a Hindi song and the words used in Hindi are impossible to encapsulate fully in English – but still a limited understanding is better than none right? it was almost like those who understand appreciated songs fully and those that did not. Thanks for the wonderful comments – its always nice to see people appreciating lyrics – I recall when I first watched Hindi movies and my understanding of Hindi was limited I hated that no-one provided English translations. Nagmein Hi Nagmein Hain Jaagti Soti Fizaon Mein not too sure.ĭazzling illumination stretches right into the sky but I think it is linked more to the wind and the breeze, and its movements. The same goes with ‘ Nagmein Hi Nagmein Hain Jaagti Soti Fizaon Mein‘ – literally it means ‘there is melody in the active and asleep surroundings/air’. but like I said I’m really not sure if that is what it means. So I’ve gone with ‘beyond the intimacy of these moments, there is a holier than holy relationship’. but I’m not convinced it can mean ribbon. but the word ‘daaman’ depending on its multiple meanings changes the entire meaning of the line.
