O Built-in antenna for contactless tag access, with card reading distance of up to 50 mm (depending on tag type) With additional features such as USB firmware upgradability, contact memory card support and extended APDU support, ACR1281U-C1 DualBoost II is a highly cost-effective, powerful all-in-one device that offers convenience and flexibility to many smart card applications. Lastly, the DualBoost has a built-in SAM slot for added security in both contact and contactless applications. It also provides intelligent support for hybrid and combi cards, such that it detects a contactless card even that has been incorrectly placed in the contact card slot. It makes use of high-speed communication for contactless cards at a maximum of 848 kbps, which makes it suitable for highly demanding applications. The DualBoost Series has PC/SC compliance for both contact and contactless interfaces. It provides the perfect complement to the "All-in-one Card" concept that combines many kinds of smart card applications in just a single card. ACR1281U-C1 DualBoost II enables one to integrate conventionally separate and independent applications for contact and contactless technologies into one device and one card it can be used for online transactions to settle payments securely using credit cards, and it can also be used for topping up contactless cards via automated fare collection in public transport. It is a dual interface reader that can access any contact and contactless smart cards following the ISO 7816 and ISO 14443 standards. Here’s the flowchart of how this works.ACR1281U-C1 DualBoost II USB Dual Interface ReaderĪCR1281U-C1 DualBoost II is the second generation of ACR128 DualBoost Reader. Then, the information regarding the pressed key is given by the number of times the timer is overflown. You just need to enable a timer for a fixed interval (I am using 100 ms, and of course the key has to be pressed for at least that long) when a key press is detected. I would say the programming part for this technique is not that hard, as I said you don’t have to deal with calculating any frequency here. The microcontroller needs a program no matter you use the matrix keypad and scan rows/columns, or use a resistor divider network technique and write the program to read and compare the ADC values for the pressed key.

I have got some feedbacks in past few days regarding this technique, and most of them say this would be hard from programming perspective.

You can download the source code and HEX file here. The pressed key is displayed on a 16×2 character LCD. The program polls for a pulse signal at RA2 pin, and when the pulse is detected, the Timer0 module is activated for 100 ms and the number of overflows is recorded. I have written a sample test program with MikroC compiler that uses Timer0 module to count the external pulses from the 555 timer output.
